First it is important to strive for a variety of foods that will ensure a proper nutritional balance.

Dr. Pitcairn recommends that you stick to the recipes as closely as possible and use fresh or organic ingredients whenever possible.

And if your dog will eat it, use raw meats and fresh vegetables such as parsley, alfalfa sprouts, carrots, and zucchini. Cooked corn, peas, green beans and broccoli are also excellent sources of nutrition. (Dogs eat veggies in the wild and this is an important part of their nutrition.)

However, take precaution against pesticides and  wash any non organic veggies prior to use)
